Getting the Big Promotion

The first day in a new set of boots.

There’s an interesting feeling that occurs during the early days of receiving a promotion at work. Usually it’s pretty calm, a bit exciting, and more than a little bit strange.

Although being promoted means greater responsibility, it often begins with less work. Many of the things that kept you busy are no longer your responsibility, even if you are responsible for making sure someone else still gets things done. 

There’s an opportunity to relax; not in a lazy way, but being promoted means that you don’t have to worry so much about getting fired or gaining your bosses’ approval - he picked you for the job! A good boss knows that promoting someone is a long term investment. They know that It pays off to be patient and understanding in helping someone figure out their new role.
